Mentor young jazz musicians this summer!

Step into a leadership role by mentoring 5th-8th grade jazz students during the second week of our Jazz Ambassadors camp. Guide younger musicians in jazz combos, help them build confidence, and foster their growth as performers. Earn service hours for your mentorship and develop valuable band-leading skills!

Program Details

ELIGIBILITY

  • Grades: 9-12 (as of 2025-2026 school year)

  • Instruments: Any instrument, including non-traditional jazz instruments such as French horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, etc. are welcome.

  • Required skills: Students should possess the following skills:

    • Technical command of their instrument.

    • Elementary improvisation experience.

    • Basic knowledge of music theory (i.e., familiarity with major scales and 12-bar blues form).

2025 CAMP DATES
Monday, August 4 - Friday, August 8
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, daily

CAMP LOCATION
Seattle JazzED South Lake Union site (380 Boren Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109)

PERFORMANCE
Final performances are a meaningful part of the camp experience, offering a chance to celebrate your student's hard work. We'll share more details about the time and venue as soon as they are confirmed. We typically host the performance on the last day of camp. Stay tuned!

SLIDING SCALE TUITION
We are committed to this program being financially accessible for ALL families. You select the tuition amount that works for you. Your tuition payment helps cover the cost of renting class space and paying our educators a fair wage, as well as classroom supplies, sheet music, etc.

You will have the option of choosing your tuition on the registration check-out page. Be sure to select the payment plan option if you want to break your payments up. Please note you will also have the option of paying your chosen amount in full if you prefer.
