Get your funk on in our Second Line Project! Join us and perform in the Seafair Torchlight Parade in downtown Seattle. This music is fun and festive. Think riff-based music. LOUD and PROUD.

Music is arranged to be accessible to students with at least one school year on their instrument, up to advanced students.

Program Details

ELIGIBILITY

  • Grades: 6-12 (as of 2025 - 2026 school year)

  • Students must be at least 12 years old to participate, per the rules of the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade (previously Seafair Torchlight Parade).

  • Instruments: Open to all instruments. You must be able to travel with your instrument in a moving parade. We can be creative with your instrument if needed (pianists can play melodica, cellos can use a cello-strap [like a guitar strap for walking cello]). Contact us with any questions or concerns!

  • Must have at least one year of experience on main instrument.

SLIDING SCALE TUITION
We are committed to this program being financially accessible for ALL families. You select the tuition amount that works for you. Your tuition supports our ability to pay educators a fair wage, provide classroom supplies and sheet music, and subsidize tuition for other families.

  • $800 (full tuition): Reflects the full cost of class and helps ensure everyone can participate.

  • $600 (25% off): A meaningful contribution that balances your needs and supports others.

  • $400 (50% off): A flexible option for families balancing other financial priorities.

  • $200 (75% off): A reduced rate for families prioritizing affordability.

  • $0 (FREE): Fully covered for families who need it, no questions asked.

You will have the option of choosing your tuition on the registration check-out page. Be sure to select the payment plan option if you want to break your payments up. Please note you will also have the option of paying your chosen amount in full if you prefer.
