JazzSprouts

Formerly known as WeBop, JazzSprouts is a jazz education program designed for children 8 months to five years old. Our 45-minute classes engage both the child and caregiver, through live music, dancing, story time and a racially-diverse curriculum. Families learn the core concepts, instruments, and great performers of Jazz, a vital Black American art form.

We’ll learn in a large group with small group pull out classes built in for individual learning and relationship building. We’ll teach you what you need to know about your instrument of choice in this awesome year-long class!
*Registration is closed for the 24-25 school year.

Connections

Connections is for intermediate students in grades 5-8 who are proficient on their instruments and ready to improve their musicianship. This class is very hands-on, so students should be prepared to be playing their instruments and/or singing for every session. We'll start out with some group icebreaker activities, learning easy jazz tunes by ear, focused listening, ear-training, exploring rhythmic and creative concepts, and more!

Explorations

Explorations is designed for musicians in grades 9 and above and is all about, well, exploring! Now that you are comfortable making music with your instrument, is there a particular topic that seems interesting? Maybe you want to play gigs but don’t know how to start, or maybe you want to dig in to modern jazz, or Latin music! Explorations includes a variety of classes of varying skill levels, so there’s something for everyone.
