Program Assistant
The Program Assistant at Seattle JazzED is a part time position that serves as the primary point of contact for students and their families during JazzED programs. This part-time position requires a friendly customer service-oriented attitude and excellent communication and organizational skills. While the specific hours may vary from quarter to quarter, programming generally takes place between 5:00pm and 9:00pm during the week and from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturdays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families during programming at our South Lake Union Site. This includes interacting with students and families, answering questions, helping with registration, and answering the phone.
Open the building and set up for classes. This may include setting up chairs, stands and/or rugs as well as light cleaning and tidying such as wiping surfaces or picking up trash and loose items.
Greet students and families as they arrive, answer questions as needed which may include helping them make a web donation, register or pay for a class, or purchase merchandise.
Take teacher and student attendance in the Active database.
Send emails to families of absent students.
Assist with organizational and administrative tasks related to instruments from our lending library, such as checking out or returning instruments, and consumable supplies like reeds and strings.
Other administrative duties assigned which could include helping to produce informational signage, emails or other communications.
Help reset the rehearsal space and locking the building after all students have departed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Able to manage several concurrent tasks or responsibilities such as answering the phone, taking attendance, and greeting students and families.
Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated experience working with families and/or students, and a proactive approach to providing assistance and problem solving.
Able to communicate professionally and promptly across various channels ensuring clarity and timeliness in all interactions.
Excellent organizational skills. Able to use a variety of digital tools including email, shared documents, and drives (Microsoft 365) in order to collaborate in a hybrid workplace

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$25/hr, paid every other week. This is a part time, non-exempt position. Expected hours are 5-8 hours per week. Sick leave accrues one hour for every 40 hours worked per Seattle’s Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. This position is not eligible for additional benefits.

Intern, Music Educator - Academic Year Programs
Seattle JazzED invites college-aged students (ages 18-25) with an interest in teaching to apply for an internship for the academic year. This role will support programming that serves students in grades 4-12.
Responsibilities
Perform administrative tasks such as photocopying materials and lunchtime student supervision
Assist with teaching responsibilities such as participating in classes and providing focused support for small groups of students
Assist with gig and class set up and clean up
Participate in a one-day social media takeover, sharing camp highlights and personal experiences with our JazzED community
Qualifications
Passion for music education and youth development
Enthusiasm for working with diverse populations of students
Exhibit qualities such as adaptability and eagerness to learn
Must be able to provide own transportation to and from class

Early Childhood Music Teacher
Seattle JazzED is seeking an experienced Early Childhood Music Teacher to lead a new K–3 music program that focuses on early music instruction in a jazz tradition. This new program will introduce students to foundational music concepts through a variety of methods, including storytelling and movement, as well as instruction on ukeleles and hand drums. We’re looking for an experienced early childhood educator with a passion for jazz and a desire to be a part of creating equitable and accessible jazz music education.
In addition to teaching two to three 45-minute classes every week, the teacher will also collaborate with JazzED’s Program Manager on refining curriculum and lesson plans to best serve K-3 students and their families while also meeting the music education goals of the class.
The classes will involve singing, movement, and instruction on ukeleles and hand drums. Ideal candidates will be comfortable singing and moving in front of kids and their families, proficient with stringed instruments, and preferably proficient with multiple instruments.

Freelance, Music Educator
Are you an awesome human committed to youth development through music education? Seattle JazzED is seeking periodic freelance music educators to lead music programming that serves students in grades 4-12. Hours are variable, with opportunities for virtual and in-person instruction. Ideal candidates will be age 21 or older, with at least 1–2-year(s) experience working with youth. The educator in this role should be able to teach music lessons through the lens of jazz to a diverse population of students, track the progress of each musician, and collaborate with the Education Team to maximize the experience of youth.
We are contracting 6+ months out for:
1 or 2 afternoons a week (starting at 3:30 pm)
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We are currently hiring for:
