Girls’ Ellington Project is Seattle’s all-girls, all-city jazz band directed by Kelly Clingan. They will be performing the world premiere of Salish, a Jazz Suite by Megan Vinther.
Megan Vinther is a Seattle area musician, composer, and music educator who is passionate about creating welcoming communities through music. She has taught band, orchestra, and guitar in secondary public schools since 2003. Megan is currently the director of instrumental music at Everett High School and conducts the Edmonds Concert Band at Edmonds College. Her jazz bands, concert band, and orchestras have consistently earned top marks at regional festivals. Career teaching highlights include participating in the Swing Central competition in Savannah, GA, being a jazz combo clinician at the Mountlake Terrace Jazz Symposium, and presenting at the WMEA Conference 2020 on “The Art of Being a Female Band Director.”
