This new youth orchestra is all about creativity and exploration. Its repertoire will draw from many different genres, like jazz, pop, blues, funk, classical and world music, and will include pieces that feature extended techniques. In addition to playing what’s written on the page, students will also focus on creating their own music through improvisation. This ensemble is perfect for string players of intermediate to advanced ability, and beginning to intermediate improvisation skill. Open to grades 7-12.
